Vedic Astrology is a 'Scientific" study and application of the language of the Heavenly Bodies (Astronomy). The Heavenly Bodies are mapped in the form of a Horoscope.

ARE YOU BORN IN PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI’S NAKSHATRA? ( STAR 25)

ARE YOU BORN IN PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI’S NAKSHATRA? KNOW YOURSELF BETTER ( STAR 25)

PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI is represented by 2 bright stars known in modern astronomy as Alpha-Pegasi and Beta-Pegasi. They lie on top of the astronomical constellations of Kumbham & Meenam.

PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI translates into – “the one who possesses lucky feet”. “ A Sword” & also“ a single ray of sun” are its other symbols.

It has an obscure ruling deity with the name of “Aja-Ekapada”, which translates into “the one footed goat”. This mysterious creature is a goat-headed monster with one leg, who form part of the entourage of RUDRA (the fierce form of Shiva). Aja-Ekapada can be seen as the ruling deity of all types of black magic and that is why many individuals deeply influenced by this nakshatra are naturally attracted to black magic. As Rudra, the fierce form of Shiva, it carries the destructive aspect of Shiva, in much the same manner as Ardra/Thiruvaathirai, but more cruel than Ardra/Thiruvaathirai.

Most evolved souls usually use the nakshatra’s energy to mortify themselves instead of others. All the sages like Vishwamitra, who underwent extreme penance, are basically using this nakshatra’s energy.  Even in India, many SADHUS involve themselves in intense practices involving self torture and self mortification. A PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI native is ready to stand on one foot for even ten years , if they are convinced that is will bring them their desired result. wOw!

Surprisingly, this nakshatra belongs the the brahmana class because of its ruler, Jupiter, the most brahmanical amongst planets.

Its body parts include the ribs, abdomen, & the sides of the legs. It also an indicator of the Left thighs & the soles of the feet. It’s a predominantly a VATA (Air) nakshatra too.  Its directions are west and southwest.

For those suffering from the bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial worship is to worship Lord Shiva.

Varahamihira states that “those who have Moon in PURVABHADRAPADA/PURATHAATHI are good at earning money, are stingy and are liable to place their wealth at the disposal of their partners. An act befitting 90% of all ruling elites in the world today.

The 1st paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI name relates to “SE”
The 2nd paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI name relates to “SO”
The 3rd paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI name relates to “THE”
The 4th paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI name relates to “DI”

The 1st paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI is the most aggressive side ;
The 2nd paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI relates to the more indulgent side ;
The 3rd paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI is more communicative ;
The 4th paagam of PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI has an extreme diabolical quality.

DO YOU KNOW WHICH PAAGAM IN PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI DO YOU BELONG? ONLY DETAILED VEDIC ASTROLOGERS WOULD LET YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

MOST POPULAR PERSONALITY OF PURVABHADRAPADA / PURATHAATHI : MICHAEL JACKSON.

This nakshatra’s energy can be found expressed well in his music like “Thriller”.  The self mortification of this nakshatra is evident from his continuous facial surgeries & drug abusements.

ARE YOU BORN IN SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 24)

SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM represents a faint group of many stars, and the brightest among them is Gamma-Aquarii or Sadachbia with a visual magnitude of only 3.85.

SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM means "the hundred physicians", "the hundred medicines" or "possessing a hundred healers". This is obviously referring to the hundred of faint stars, with each one of the stars representing one physician/medicine.

Its main symbol is an "EMPTY CIRCLE".  This circle can be seen as a representation of a round of magical charm, the circle of life, the circle of creation, or the circle of the zodiac. As someone said, "you will notice everything done is in a circle, because the power of the world works in circle...the world is round, the wind, in its greatest power circles, birds make their nests in circles, & the life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood". A circle can conceal and hide things just like a jar hiding the liquid/powder inside.  This nakshatra is thus related with secrets and the ability to conceal secrets. Its strongly associated with Saturn & Rahu.
Even though this nakshatra is related to a hundred physicians through its name, its main deity is VARUNA, the lord of the oceans. Varuna can be equated with the planet Neptune, as it is seen in modern astronomy.  Varuna like Neptune is the lord of the cosmic and terrestrial waters.

Varuna is seen as holding a pot. This pot contains SOMA - the preferred drink of the Gods.  I call SOMA as the elixir of life.  Do some homework and find out where do you find that elixir of life's or Soma.You may be surprised by your findings! The magical cures through this divine water is simply magical.

On the highest level, this nakshatra falls under the jurisdiction of SHIVA. Obviously it carries itself Shiva's mystical, contemplative,  and ascetic nature. SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM always tries to gain access to whatever is hidden and in doing so it attains its power.  And it is not always willing to share the hidden secrets and tries to hide them just like how the ocean covers up all the treasures beneath the sea!

In the universal scheme of things, SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM relates to 'BHESHAJA SAKHTI" - the power of HEALING.

The body parts it relates to are the jaws, & the right thigh. And its direction ranges from Southwest to Southeast.  Its an active nakshatra in a movable sign or known also as an electric sign {communications done through electronic devices eg. speakers, singers, phone-calls, etc.). Its SEXUAL ANIMAL (yoni) is a
mare / horse....horse power.  WoW!

For those suffering from bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of LORD SHIVA or by MEDITATIONS. According to Varahamihira,  Moon being placed in SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM, makes one truthful but harsh and cruel in their speech. They are always eager to conquer their enemies but suffer much grief in isolation.

The 1st paagam of  SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM relates to the happy-go-lucky type, optimistic & philanthropic.

The 2nd paagam of  SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM  relates to the more practical & organizational aspects. Very ambitious too.

The 3rd paagam of  SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM borns are visionary, &  futuristic in their outlooks.

The 4th paagam of  SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM relates to the powers of healing and compassion aspects.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM you belong to?

Names should start with  vowels/alphabets ;- 1) "GO /KO" ; 2) "SA" ; 3) "SI" ; or 4) "SU".

Every paagam in SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAMcomes with different interpretations. Only DETAILED ASTROLOGERS can let you know the difference & the significance.

MOST FAMOUS PERSONALITY OF SHATABHISHA / SATHAYAM : 'KING' ELVIS PRESLEY - electrifying, media savvy, independence of thoughts & actions,  intoxicative, self-destructive & suffering in silence describes him well.

ARE YOU BORN IN DHANISHTA / AVITTAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 23)

DHANISHTA / AVITTAM is represented by 4 stars in the constellation known as "Delphini" (the Dolphin).  Beta Delphini with a visual magnitude of only 3.63 is the brightest, making Dhanishta / Avittam less bright compared to other nakshatras.

DHANISHTA / AVITTAM translates into - "The Wealthiest", which directly hints at the extremely lucky quality of this nakshatra.

All vedic seers agree on the fact that "a musical drum" is the main symbol of this nakshatra.  Tabla, Mridhangam, and Damaru are known as the musical drum, but Damaru stands out because Damaru is Lord Shiva's favourite drum. Some say its symbol is "a flute" too.

DHANISHTA / AVITTAM is presided by a group of 8 gods called the "Vasus" and their names are 1) Apah, 2) Dhruva, 3) Dhara, 4) Anila, 5) Soma, 6) Anala, 7) Pratyusha & 8) Prabhasa. These 8 Vasus are supposed to be wealthy and skilled in music. It means this nakshatra's mastery over the material plane and relates to the rhythm, musical functionings of the universal mind.  This is the reason why a lot of scholars are associated with this nakshatra, which in a way is understanding the rhythm of the universe.

LORD SHIVA is the ultimate presiding deity of this nakshatra. This can be understood from the fact about Shiva's immense musical abilities. Shiva, even while wreaking havoc and destruction, does so in a graceful and rhythmical dance known as THANDAVA DANCE, exemplified by his famous NATARAJA posture. It's a known fact, that the two of the main Indian classical dance systems directly originate from Lord Shiva.
In a way, this nakshatra can be seen as a bridge between VISHNU's & SHIVA's energy.  It can be related to half Vishnu & half Shiva form which can be still be found in some temples in India. Vishnu relates to its mastery of the material world, while Shiva relates to its musical aspect.

It belongs to the Farmer's class.  Although a wealthy and well endowed nakshatra, it falls in Saturn's sign of Capricorn & Aquarius, both planets belonging to the working class / masses. Its a female nakshatra because it is a feminine force which presides over all creative arts like music and dancing.

The body parts it relates to the most are the back and the anus. The spinal cord relates to Saturn and the sign Capricorn. The KUNDALINI energy rises from the area around the anus and travels upwards through the back to the top CHAKRA on the head. Its a pitta (fiery) nakshatra due to its strong relation with MARS.

For those suffering from bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of the lion-riding goddess DURGA or HARI-HARA, a deity with a half-Vishnu, half Shiva form.

According to Varahamihira,  Moon being placed in DHANISHTA / AVITTAM makes a person "liberal, brave, rich and adept to music and other fine arts.

The 1st paagam of DHANISHTA / AVITTAM relates to the the  ambitious part. It combines the energies of Sun, Mars & Saturn and directs one towards worldly accomplishments, but not so good for marital harmony.

The 2nd paagam of DHANISHTA / AVITTAM relates to the skillful and communicative part of this nakshatra.

The 3rd paagam of DHANISHTA / AVITTAM relates to the the amicable, optimistic, happy, social, musical, & wealthy aspect of this nakshatra, with marital harmony.

The 4th paagam of DHANISHTA / AVITTAM  relates to the excessive martian energy & aggressiveness.  Warriors & sportsperson are known to be born under this paagam.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of DHANISHTA / AVITTAM you belong ?

Every paagam in DHANISHTA / AVITTAM comes with different interpretations.  Only DETAILED ASTROLOGERS can let you know the difference & the significance.

MOST FAMOUS PERSONALITY OF DHANISHTA / AVITTAM : MARILYN MONROE, the famous model, has her Moon in Dhanishta / Avittam (in the 7th House).

A PURANIC STORY FOR SHRAVANA/ THIRUVONAM NAKSHATRA

A demon king called BALI had taken all the 3 worlds, i.e. earth, heaven & the netherworld/hell,  through his might and prowess.  The beaten devas (demi-gods) appealed to VISHNU for help.  Vishnu assured them that he would restore their heavenly abode to them and rid the universe of the rule of the demons.

So he waited for Bali to perfom a big YAGYA (an elaborate religious ritual ceremony).  One of the many rules rule for those performing yagya of this big scale, is that one cannot refuse the demand of any brahmin's request at that point in time. Vishnu, cleverly took the form of a young brahmin boy  (in his VAMANA FORM) requested help from Bali. He asked  "Can I get a land which could cover my 3 strides?".  Bali was amused by this request seeing the Brahmin wanting as little as 3 foot strides of land only.

Bali's preceptor, SUKRACHARYA, could see through Vishnu's act and warned Bali not to give in to the innocent boy's request.  Bali, being a man of his words, insisted he is obliged to fulfil the boy's wish at whatever cost it may be. This infuriated Sukracharya and he left the assembly immediately.

When Bali was pouring the sacred water from his pot as a ritual marking for granting the boy's wish, Sukracharya assumed a tiny form and stuck himself in the pot's spout so that water cannot come out from the pot. This act prevented the water flowing out from the pot. Vishnu obviously knew what was going on, so he took out a sharp blade of grass to clear the obstruction.  As he poked towards the pot's spout, the blade of the grass destroyed one of Sukracharya's eyes, and this is the reason why Sukracharya is seen to have one eye ever since.

With the obstacle successfully removed and the ritual over, it was time for the boy to take his 3 strides worth of land. Suddenly, the boy's size started to increase until it got so big that no one can see his head anymore.  In one stride, he took both the netherworld/hell and the earth, and in the 2nd stride, he took heaven. Then Vishnu turned around Bali and asked "Now where do I put my 3rd foot?" Bali surrendered by offering his own head to be put in the 3rd stride. And Vishnu smiled and happily put his foot on Bali's head. WoW!

Bali was immediately transported into the lowest among the 14 lokas.  And Vishnu had now restored the earth to humans and the heavens to the gods.  He was very pleased with Bali's magnanimity, so he decided to confer upon him the status - doorkeeper of "the outer-most universal sheath".

From this story, it will reveal everything about the nature , functioning and quality of SHRAVANA/THIRUVONAM.  Vishnu in his Vamana form as the brahmin boy relates to the amiable and innocent front projected by this nakshatra. This nakshatra is clever in achieving its goals and is very good in its execution skills in much the same way as Vishnu.

Shravana/Thiruvonam borns are known to very good executors.  Employers should look out for this nakshatra borns as their Administrative Executives.

On the astrological front, being one eye blinded,  that is the reason why Venus/Sukracharya doesn't like to be placed in this nakshatra. Other nakshatras in MAKARAM such as UTTARASHADA and DHANISHTA seems alright with Venus/Sukracharya, except for SHRAVANA/THIRUVONAM.

Jyotisha Ravi

ARE YOU BORN IN SHRAVANA / THIRUVONAM/S NAKSHATRA? (Star 22)

SHRAVANA / THIRUVONAM'S, is represented by 3 bright stars, Alpha-Aquilae, Beta-Aquilae & Gamma-Aquilae, and the brightest star is Alpha-Aquilae, having a visual magnitude of 0.93.  According to the puranas, these stars correspond to the three steps taken by Vishnu in his Vamana-Avatar.

There are three main symbols for this nakshatra.  One is a "row of three uneaven footsteps". The other one is a "trident" and followed by the 3rd one, i.e. an "ear".

VISHNU, the preserver among the Trinity, is the main presiding deity of this nakshatra. Its strong relationship with Vishnu makes it having strong organizational ability.  That's why Shravana /Thiruvonam  born are good administrators or executors. Like Vishnu, this nakshatra doesn't believe in hurrying with things.  Some say, SARASWATHI, the goddess of learning is strongly associated with this nakshatra.

It is also said that Shravana / Thiruvonam born can easily fall prey to deception.  Even if they catch a thief, and that thief cleverly gives the circumstances to which he became a thief, Shravana / Thiruvonam born will let him off-the-hook. This is the only nakshatra who do not believe in revenging even their bitterest enemies....they say it loud (revenging) but would not follow through.They would leave it to God to sort them out. In a way, its a Godly nakshatra. Forget about being a policeman if you are born under this nakshatra. Your thieves would be blessed to high heavens if you are a policeman...haha

The primary body parts are the Ears and Sex Organs and is a primarily a "kapha" or watery nakshatra due to its strong relationship with the Moon. Its direction are South and Northwest.

Moon and Saturn are the 2 planets governing this nakshatra.  Moon is the nakshatra's main planetary ruler and Saturn rules Capricorn or Makaram, the sign that this nakshatra falls in. Both Moon and Saturn are intimately connected with the masses and mass mentality.  This is where this nakshatra gets its ability to influence mass opinions.

Its sexual animal is Monkey, which indicates affinity towards affection and playfulness than the actual sexual act.

For those suffering from bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial worship is to Vishnu, the preserver and the maintainer of all creation.

According to Varahamihira,  Moon being placed in Shravana / Thiruvonam makes a person  "learned, famous & prosperous ; and gives a liberal minded spouse".

ARE YOU BORN IN UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM'S NAKSHATRA? KNOW YOURSELF BETTER (Star 21)

UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM, also known as pinnacle of solar energy, is represented by 4 bright stars, which the ancient seers saw as resembling an elephant's tusk. The brightest among the 4 stars is Zeta-Sagittarii (NUNKI) having a visual magnitude of 2.07.

UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM translates into the "Latter Invincible One" or the "Latter Unconquered", revealing the crux of this nakshatra, which has more to do with the term "final victory" than any other nakshatra.

As mentioned above, it's primary symbol is "AN ELEPHANT TUSK".  The tusk is the most prized of an elephant's anatomy. Elephants are usually very conscious of their tusks and zealously guard them. They are very useful for one practical purpose - fighting. All kings, including Indran, the king of gods, ride on elephants during processions and warfare too. UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM, therefore, has a direct responsibility with kingship and all the responsibilities. "Responsibility" is the most important keyword for this nakshatra.

UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM has ten ruling deities known as the Ten Vishvadevas. Vishvadevas means Universal Gods. And Ganesha, the elephant headed God, is the final presiding deity of this nakshatra. And Ganesha is seen as the "Lord of the Beginnings" and the "Remover of Obstacles".

Its a DHRUVA (fixed) nakshatra.  If there is any nakshatra which can be considered as the "doyen of permanence",  it has to be UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM.  In fact, all the qualities associated with the character Dhruva (son of a demon king, who was an ardent worshipper of Vishnu), are the same as those born in this nakshatra.

In the universal scheme of things, UTTARASHADA relates to "Apradhrishya Sakthi" - the power to give permanent victory. It belongs to the "kshatriya" class.  This nakshatra is mostly concerned with attaining a place of position or strength in society.  It relates to leadership and the rulers.  In fact, all kings and leaders comes under the kshatriya framework.

Thighs and Waist are the body parts related to this nakshatra. Its a primarily "kapha" or watery nakshatra. Its direction is primarily related to South, West, Nort-East & East. The planetary ruler of this nakshatra is SUN.

For those suffering from bad effects due to the  afflictions of this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of  Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the  bestower of wisdom.

According to Varahamihira, those born with Moon in this nakshatra are "modest, graceful, grateful, fortunate, abide by dharma and have many friends".

The 1st paagam of UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM relates to Righteousness, Confidence and Expansiveness.  It has supreme faith in its ability, knowledge  & understanding ;

The 2nd paagam of UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM relates to the material expressions of one's thoughts, plans and desires paagam ; the most expressive paagam ;

The 3rd paagam of UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM emphasize accumulations, whether it be knowledge or material possessions  ;

The 4th paagam of  UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM relates to physical prowess, courage and philanthropy side.

ARE YOU BORN IN PURVASHADHA / PURAADHAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 20)

PURVASHADHA / PURAADHAM is represented by three bright stars in the middle portion of Sagittarius. Epsilon-Sagitarri with a visual magnitude of 1.81 is the brightest among the 3 stars.

Ancient vedic seers saw these stars as forming the shape of a HAND HELD FAN. The alternative name for Purvashadha is "APARAJITA", which traslates into "UNDEFEATED".  Its showy, glitzy, glamorous,and a very expressive nakshatra.

An obscure goddess by the name "APAH" is the ruling deity of this nakshatra.  "Apah" translates into WATER.  Therefore Apah can be equated with the ocean goddess. For your information, "VARUNA" is the male ocean deity. Both Apah & Varuna are part reflections of LAXMI, the universal goddess of prosperity. And Laxmi is the spouse of VISHNU, the overseer of the celestial waters which sustain our universe. The image of Vishnu & Laxmi sitting on a snake bed on top of the ocean of celestial waters is an image related to this nakshatra.

The "churning of the ocean legend" signifies the productive potential of Apah as a goddess. Her flambouyance, enticing, invincible approaches reflects the nature and functionings of this nakshatra. Apah, though benevolent, can be cruel and harsh is her ways, which can be seen as a trait of Purvashadha / Puraadham's nakshatra.

Purvashadha nakshatra borns have unrealistic hopes, ambitious and goals unless there are balancing factors in the horoscope. ADOLF HITLER, who has a Moon placed in Purvashadha, started a war with unrealistic aims way beyond the power of his army and resources. Purvashadha has a straight forward driving force, "just do it" type of energy, like Nike's tagline.  wOw! Purvashadha & Nike....what a comparison.

Purvashadha is related to the two brahmin planets i.e. Venus & Jupiter.  That's why they often talk about good values and at the same time have a luxury existence.

Its a female nakshatra because of its relation to its ruling deity Apah, and the fact that Venus is seen as a predominantly feminine planet. Thighs, and Back (from neck to waist) are the body parts of this nakshatra. Its fiery too (pitta).  Its direction ranges from north-east to south-west, via east.

The "life giving waters" of Purvashadha is the "elixir" of life, the key to immortality sought after in the Alshemical mystery schools.  You can refer to the Bible or vedic texts to know better what exactly is  "life giving water" or the "elixir of life".  I personally have done some research about this & was shocked to find that truth......OMG!

For those suffering from bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is to worship Goddess Laxmi.
According to Varahamihira, Moon in Purvashadha / Puraadham "makes one having a loving and a proud spouse while the native is of a proud disposition and steady in friendships".

The 1st paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the proud and confident side of this nakshatra ;

The 2nd paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the intellectual, alchemical aspect of this nakshatra ;

The 3rd paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the easy-going, luxury loving side  ;

The 4th paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the haughty, secretive, hidden and mysterious side.

ARE YOU BORN IN MULA / MOOLAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 19)

MULA / MOOLAM, consists of a bunch of 9 stars, which were seen by ancient vedic seers as forming a shape similar to a LION's TAIL. Their brightest stars, SHAULA & LESATH, have visual magnitudes of 1.63 & 2.68 respectively.

MULA's main symbol is a "TIED BUNCH OF ROOTS". Both its name and symbol emphasize the word "root". Just like its planetary ruler Ketu, this nakshatra deals with getting to the bottom / core of everything. The term "root" has another meaning in the word "rooted". This nakshatra also relates to something properly rooted.

In ancient medical systems like Ayurveda, roots of various plants are used for medicinal purposes, thus Mula is directly associated with making medicines.

Its presiding deity as per vedic is the Goddess of dissolution and destruction known as NITTRI, a name which translates into "calamity". Basing on this, it is not hard to see that this is not a very pleasant nakshatra.

Mula's primary approach to life is to get to the root of things.  It is a relentless nakshatra which will stop at nothing until it has exercised its will. Natives of this nakshatra will try to fully utilize whatever will power is available at their command.

It belongs to the butcher's class because of its destructive quality and considered to be an active nakshatra. Among the body parts, it relates to the Feet, which emphasizes its capacity to take heavy responsibility, just as the feet takes up the load of the whole body.  Its direction relates to South-West, North-East & East.

RAVANA, the mightiest Titan King and sorcerer of Silver Age was born with ascendant lord Sun placed in Mula.  As narrated in Ramayana, he gained immense power and lordship over the three worlds through rigorous penances aimed at pleasing Lord Shiva.  This shows Mula's ability to gain power on a universal level through a close association with the root forces.   He however fell prey to the haughty, bashful and unwise aspect of Mula energy and met his end as a villain in the hands of Rama, the 7th incarnation of Vishnu. The movie Ravan / Ravanan depicts Ravana's might & his end through the lenses of our brilliant director, Mani Ratnam.

It is a hard, sharp and a dreadful nakshatra.  Its sharpness relates to the sharp and often harsh way Ketu functions.  This relates to the destructive aspect of Ketu. Sometimes sharpness is necessary to initiate an important change and wakes us up from our sleep.

For those suffering from bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of fierce deities like KALI & RUDRA.

According to Varahamihira, Moon in Mula makes one "haughty, rich, and happy besides giving a fixed, luxury loving and compassionate disposition.

ARE YOU BORN IN JYESTHA / KETTAI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 18)

JYESTHA / KETTAI , consists of three stars in a row known in modern astronomy as ALPHA-SCORPIONIS, SIGMA-SCORPIONIS & TAU-SCORPIONIS. Alpha-Scorpionis is the brightest among these stars with a visual magnitude of 1.07.

Jyestha / Kettai translates simply into the "Eldest" or "Senior-most" because it is the senior-most among the 18 nakshatras.

Its main symbol is a "Round Talisman".  In all ancient civilizations and legends, one can see a round talisman as a symbol of divine protection or of an authoritarian position.  One can automatically infer that this nakshatra relates to all those in authority positions, like the police.

An "umbrella" is an alternative symbol of this nakshatra. The basic function of an umbrella is to protect one from rain, sun or wind, i.e. nature's forces. In the same way, this nakshatra is supposed to provide protection against the universal forces. This is the reason why all kings and queens in olden days never went out without an umbrella on top of their head. In fact, it is a practice till to-date.

This protection usually comes about through a detailed understanding of the occult knowledge of Universal functions.  That's why politicians and the ruling class of today do take the aid of occult practices in secret to protect their power and position.  Our own Mona Fandey's case reminds us as to what extreme extend do politicians take to protect their power and position.

INDRAN, is the main deity governing deity of this nakshatra.  Around 5,000 years ago, Indran was the most worshiped among all the deities. The Vedas are full of remarks about him. Coincidentally, the Greeks also worship a thunder god known as "THOR",  This thunder god was supposed to wield a thunder bolt in much the same way as Indran, who is always portrayed with a thunder bolt in his hand.

Indran was also regarded as the rain god in most of the ancient cultures. And rain is very important to agriculture, and when rainfall is irregular, it can destroy agriculture. With the invention of new technologies, the dependence of agriculture on rain diminished and so did the worship of Indran.

KRISHNA can be said to be the 1st one who turned the common people away from the worship of Indran. He encouraged them to establish direct communication with forces of nature instead.

One peculiarity of Jyestha / Kettai is that it gives prosperity only though some occult, supernatural or extraordinary means.  This arises from the fact that Indran always gets his position and power through penance and other occult activities. He even got his thunderbolt through the occult propitiation of a sage named Dadhichi.

Its female nakshatra. Jyeshta / Kettai is often portrayed as the eldest and senior-most queen. Even Indran as a character seems to have predominantly feminine attributes and attitudes.  The old, seasoned, jealous, stern stereotyped queen fits Jyeshta /Kettai like a glove.

The neck & right side of the torso are the body parts related to this nakshatra.  It is related primarily to north and south directions.

According to Varahamihira, Moon in Jyeshta / Kettai gives "an angry disposition, few friends, lustfulness, contentment and a sense of responsibility".

The 1st paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to family concerns and interests ;

The 2nd paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to rigidness in regards to responsibility and doing the right things ;

The 3rd paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to society-protector ;

The 4th paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to emotions, indulgence in fantasy & intoxication.
