GANESH LOOSES HIS HEAD BECAUSE OF SANI'S LOOK

26/1/2011

Goddess Parvathi, the consort of Lord Shiva created a child from her mind.  That was how Ganesha was born.

They decided to have a ANNAPRASHAM CEREMONY. All the gods and demigods were invited to witness the child receiving his first solid food in the Annaprasham ceremony.  They were all happy to attend the function, EXCEPT Lord Sani.

Remembering his wife's curse at him that says "since you did not bother to look at me, I curse you that whomsoever you look will perish", Lord Sani was too scared to turn up.  Goddess Parvathi noticed his absence in the ceremony and sent her emissaries (mah-chais) to fetch him.  Being the son of Lord Sun, Lord Sani just cannot refuse to attend.....have to "give face" lah!

Lord Sani, reluctantly went to the ceremony.  In his mind, he decided not to look at the child and only join the festivities and bless the child with his eyes closed....nothing more-nothing less.

Goddess Parvathi, from far aways, observed Lord Sani distancing himself, and to his worst nightmare, she suddenly appeared and stood in front of him with baby Ganesh and asked Lord Sani for his comments on baby Ganesh looks'.

Avoiding looking at the baby, Lord Sani told her that he did not want to see the child fearing the worst might happen to him.  Goddess Parvathi refused to accept his reasoning.  She even gave him the assurance that she herself would be responsible for whatever consequences.

What would Lord Sani do, then?

With one eye opened and the other eye closed, Lord Sani looked at baby Ganesh, and as he did slowly, the worst fear finally became a reality, with baby Ganesh's head dropping off his shoulder......wOw!

What happened?  Goddess Parvathi was hysterical...there were general confusion....and everyone started crying.  Only Lord Vishnu kept himself cool and the same time he also knew the extent of Goddess Parvathi's anger!

Lord Vishnu took one of Lord Shiva's attendants and asked him to go out and find the FIRST living being lying with its HEAD towards the NORTH.
He was to cut the head off and bring it as fast as possible to Lord Vishnu.

The attendant found an elephant lying down with its head northwards.  He brought the head to Vishnu and he set-it on baby Ganesh headless body.  With that, baby Ganesh became whole again.  Since then, he became to be known as the ELEPHANT GOD. (There are also many other versions of this story)

Such were the powers of Saturn.  It became more potent by his wife's curse.

In Vedic Astrology, it is said that the HOUSES which receive the SATURN'S ASPECT (Sani paarvai), i.e. the 3rd, 7th & the 10th House from one's Saturn placement, would somehow RUIN THE CHARACTER OF THAT HOUSE, of course, with some exceptions.

As such, Saturn's Aspects have always been treated with "the greatest care & concern" by all vedic astrologers.

Many people are capable of giving the powerful "Saturn-look." That's why so many "poosinikkahs" are seen in so many houses.

WHY LORD SANI REMAINED A BRAHMACHARI ALTHOUGH MARRIED?

19/1/2011

As written earlier, out of deep anger against his father (Lord Sun), Sani started doing penance.  His objective was to become more powerful than Lord Sun.

During penance, one has to remain celibate and have to control his emotions and also to subject the body to extreme sufferings, like the sadhus or the rishis do.  Lord Sani went through this process of penance for years and finally succeeded.  While Lord Sun gave life to all beings, Lord Sani became the DEALER OF DEATH.  He had the additional power of bestowing instant WEALTH & PROSPERITY and also THE POWER OF HEALING (by denying death).  So, Lord Sani can be a foe (enemy) or a friend too if you know the "right button" to get connected, i.e. through mantras & tantras.

What happened then?  Even after achieving his goal, he continued to be celibate and led a life of a hermit!

CHHAYA, his mother was alarmed and like any good mother forced Lord Sani to marry a girl of her choice believing the beauty of the bride would change her son's attitude.  Unfortunately, no such thing happened, and Lord Sani continued with his daily meditation after going through the marriage rituals with extreme reluctance, only to please his mother.  Probably he did not understand the responsibilities of marriage.  As mentioned earlier, Sani matures only when he reaches 36 years of age.  That is the reason when one has got his/her Saturn in his/her 7th House (the house of marriage), we astrologers, would suggest that late marriage would be a better idea, of course, subjected to other conditions too.

His wife tried her best to win him over, but Lord Sani did not even look at her.  One day she had enough of it and CURSED Lord Sani by saying "Since you did not even bother to look at me, I curse you that whomsoever you look will perish"........takut!

That is why "SANI PAARVAI POLLAATHATHU"...like a movie title aaah!

WHY THE FATHER AND THE SON ALWAYS "TAK NGAAM"? A STORY OF LORD SUN & LORD SATURN.

4/1/2011

The story goes like this.  Lord SUN's wife is SANJANA. Originally they had two sons and a daughter, named VAIVASWAT MANU & later the twins named YAMA, a boy & YAMI, a girl.  Then came a day, Sanjana couldn't take the searing heat of the Sun. "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!" she said, after leaving him.

Before she left her husband, she replaced/cloned herself with CHHAYA who looked exactly like her, and she became the cool shadow of Sanjana. Of course, Chhaya was able to withstand Sun's fiery ardour (passion) without getting nervous or blistered....wOw!

The union of Lord Sun & Chhaya resulted in the birth of another two sons & a daughter by the names, SATURN, SABARI MANU & daughter, TAPATI.

YAMA, suspected that Chhaya couldn't be his real mother because of the preferential treatment (pilih kasih) of her's compared to that of Sanjana's children.  He complained to his father, Lord Sun.

What happened then?  Seeing Sun getting angry, Chhaya spilled out the beans, finally admitting she's the clone of Sanjana....poor Chhaya..... She got chased-off.

Lord Sun, then, searched for Sanjana with his father-in-law, Lord VISHWAKARMA. And Lord Vishwakarma is also known as the Chief Engineer of the Gods.

Lord Sun went into deep meditation and finally realised that Sanjana was roaming in the meadows (fields) in the form of a mare (a female horse).  Wanting to take her back, Lord Sun took the form of a horse; managed to found her and they were united.  From the union, were born the twins, called the ASHWINS, who later became the Medicine Men & Surgeon of the Gods.

Sanjana complained to Lord Sun about her problem with the searing heat that she couldn't bear. Lord Sun agreed and they went to her father, Lord Vishwakarma, the chief engineer of the gods, and asked for a solution.

The Engineer God, Lord Vishwakarma, came out with an ENGINEERING SOLUTION......he took out a circular saw and shaved-off parts of his son-in-law, i.e. Lord Sun, thus, reducing some of his heat!

The pieces, which flew off the main body of LORD SUN, became the planets.....AMAZING!!!

Lord Saturn, being his child, had already found his place as a planet but was thrown at the farthest planet from the Sun. Being thrown at the furthest from Lord Sun & the fact that his mother being chased-off earlier, Lord Saturn was very angry and later, became the SWORN ENEMY of Lord Sun.

In Vedic Astrology, there are friendships and enemies between the planets, the bitterest enemy is between the FATHER & THE SON, i.e. LORD SUN & LORD SATURN.

It is also said in Vedic Astrology that Saturn MATURES at 36 years of age.  That is why, when someone has got his Saturn placed in the angular houses i.e. the 1st, 4th, 7th & 10th Houses, or known as the KENDRA Houses in his astrological NATAL CHART, his quality of life would only be BETTER after he reached 36 years onwards.  In other words, it can also mean that the son, being matured, can understand his father better after reaching 36 years....some say after 40 years too.
