ARE YOU BORN IN UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM'S NAKSHATRA? KNOW YOURSELF BETTER (Star 21)

UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM, also known as pinnacle of solar energy, is represented by 4 bright stars, which the ancient seers saw as resembling an elephant's tusk. The brightest among the 4 stars is Zeta-Sagittarii (NUNKI) having a visual magnitude of 2.07.

UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM translates into the "Latter Invincible One" or the "Latter Unconquered", revealing the crux of this nakshatra, which has more to do with the term "final victory" than any other nakshatra.

As mentioned above, it's primary symbol is "AN ELEPHANT TUSK".  The tusk is the most prized of an elephant's anatomy. Elephants are usually very conscious of their tusks and zealously guard them. They are very useful for one practical purpose - fighting. All kings, including Indran, the king of gods, ride on elephants during processions and warfare too. UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM, therefore, has a direct responsibility with kingship and all the responsibilities. "Responsibility" is the most important keyword for this nakshatra.

UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM has ten ruling deities known as the Ten Vishvadevas. Vishvadevas means Universal Gods. And Ganesha, the elephant headed God, is the final presiding deity of this nakshatra. And Ganesha is seen as the "Lord of the Beginnings" and the "Remover of Obstacles".

Its a DHRUVA (fixed) nakshatra.  If there is any nakshatra which can be considered as the "doyen of permanence",  it has to be UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM.  In fact, all the qualities associated with the character Dhruva (son of a demon king, who was an ardent worshipper of Vishnu), are the same as those born in this nakshatra.

In the universal scheme of things, UTTARASHADA relates to "Apradhrishya Sakthi" - the power to give permanent victory. It belongs to the "kshatriya" class.  This nakshatra is mostly concerned with attaining a place of position or strength in society.  It relates to leadership and the rulers.  In fact, all kings and leaders comes under the kshatriya framework.

Thighs and Waist are the body parts related to this nakshatra. Its a primarily "kapha" or watery nakshatra. Its direction is primarily related to South, West, Nort-East & East. The planetary ruler of this nakshatra is SUN.

For those suffering from bad effects due to the  afflictions of this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of  Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the  bestower of wisdom.

According to Varahamihira, those born with Moon in this nakshatra are "modest, graceful, grateful, fortunate, abide by dharma and have many friends".

The 1st paagam of UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM relates to Righteousness, Confidence and Expansiveness.  It has supreme faith in its ability, knowledge  & understanding ;

The 2nd paagam of UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM relates to the material expressions of one's thoughts, plans and desires paagam ; the most expressive paagam ;

The 3rd paagam of UTTARASHADA / UTTHARAADAM emphasize accumulations, whether it be knowledge or material possessions  ;

ARE YOU BORN IN PURVASHADHA / PURAADHAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 20)

PURVASHADHA / PURAADHAM is represented by three bright stars in the middle portion of Sagittarius. Epsilon-Sagitarri with a visual magnitude of 1.81 is the brightest among the 3 stars.

Ancient vedic seers saw these stars as forming the shape of a HAND HELD FAN. The alternative name for Purvashadha is "APARAJITA", which traslates into "UNDEFEATED".  Its showy, glitzy, glamorous,and a very expressive nakshatra.

An obscure goddess by the name "APAH" is the ruling deity of this nakshatra.  "Apah" translates into WATER.  Therefore Apah can be equated with the ocean goddess. For your information, "VARUNA" is the male ocean deity. Both Apah & Varuna are part reflections of LAXMI, the universal goddess of prosperity. And Laxmi is the spouse of VISHNU, the overseer of the celestial waters which sustain our universe. The image of Vishnu & Laxmi sitting on a snake bed on top of the ocean of celestial waters is an image related to this nakshatra.

The "churning of the ocean legend" signifies the productive potential of Apah as a goddess. Her flambouyance, enticing, invincible approaches reflects the nature and functionings of this nakshatra. Apah, though benevolent, can be cruel and harsh is her ways, which can be seen as a trait of Purvashadha / Puraadham's nakshatra.

Purvashadha nakshatra borns have unrealistic hopes, ambitious and goals unless there are balancing factors in the horoscope. ADOLF HITLER, who has a Moon placed in Purvashadha, started a war with unrealistic aims way beyond the power of his army and resources. Purvashadha has a straight forward driving force, "just do it" type of energy, like Nike's tagline.  wOw! Purvashadha & Nike....what a comparison.

Purvashadha is related to the two brahmin planets i.e. Venus & Jupiter.  That's why they often talk about good values and at the same time have a luxury existence.

Its a female nakshatra because of its relation to its ruling deity Apah, and the fact that Venus is seen as a predominantly feminine planet. Thighs, and Back (from neck to waist) are the body parts of this nakshatra. Its fiery too (pitta).  Its direction ranges from north-east to south-west, via east.

The "life giving waters" of Purvashadha is the "elixir" of life, the key to immortality sought after in the Alshemical mystery schools.  You can refer to the Bible or vedic texts to know better what exactly is  "life giving water" or the "elixir of life".  I personally have done some research about this & was shocked to find that truth......OMG!

For those suffering from bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is to worship Goddess Laxmi.
According to Varahamihira, Moon in Purvashadha / Puraadham "makes one having a loving and a proud spouse while the native is of a proud disposition and steady in friendships".

The 1st paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the proud and confident side of this nakshatra ;

The 2nd paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the intellectual, alchemical aspect of this nakshatra ;

The 3rd paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the easy-going, luxury loving side  ;

The 4th paagam of Purvashadha / Puraadham relates to the haughty, secretive, hidden and mysterious side.

ARE YOU BORN IN MULA / MOOLAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 19)

MULA / MOOLAM, consists of a bunch of 9 stars, which were seen by ancient vedic seers as forming a shape similar to a LION's TAIL. Their brightest stars, SHAULA & LESATH, have visual magnitudes of 1.63 & 2.68 respectively.

MULA's main symbol is a "TIED BUNCH OF ROOTS". Both its name and symbol emphasize the word "root". Just like its planetary ruler Ketu, this nakshatra deals with getting to the bottom / core of everything. The term "root" has another meaning in the word "rooted". This nakshatra also relates to something properly rooted.

In ancient medical systems like Ayurveda, roots of various plants are used for medicinal purposes, thus Mula is directly associated with making medicines.

Its presiding deity as per vedic is the Goddess of dissolution and destruction known as NITTRI, a name which translates into "calamity". Basing on this, it is not hard to see that this is not a very pleasant nakshatra.

Mula's primary approach to life is to get to the root of things.  It is a relentless nakshatra which will stop at nothing until it has exercised its will. Natives of this nakshatra will try to fully utilize whatever will power is available at their command.

It belongs to the butcher's class because of its destructive quality and considered to be an active nakshatra. Among the body parts, it relates to the Feet, which emphasizes its capacity to take heavy responsibility, just as the feet takes up the load of the whole body.  Its direction relates to South-West, North-East & East.

RAVANA, the mightiest Titan King and sorcerer of Silver Age was born with ascendant lord Sun placed in Mula.  As narrated in Ramayana, he gained immense power and lordship over the three worlds through rigorous penances aimed at pleasing Lord Shiva.  This shows Mula's ability to gain power on a universal level through a close association with the root forces.   He however fell prey to the haughty, bashful and unwise aspect of Mula energy and met his end as a villain in the hands of Rama, the 7th incarnation of Vishnu. The movie Ravan / Ravanan depicts Ravana's might & his end through the lenses of our brilliant director, Mani Ratnam.

It is a hard, sharp and a dreadful nakshatra.  Its sharpness relates to the sharp and often harsh way Ketu functions.  This relates to the destructive aspect of Ketu. Sometimes sharpness is necessary to initiate an important change and wakes us up from our sleep.

For those suffering from bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of fierce deities like KALI & RUDRA.

According to Varahamihira, Moon in Mula makes one "haughty, rich, and happy besides giving a fixed, luxury loving and compassionate disposition.

The 1st paagam of Mula / Moolam refers to all types of deep searches and probes ;

The 2nd paagam of Mula /Moolam refers to both occult and material implications ;

The 3rd paagam of Mula / Moolam focus on communication, wordplay and relationships - the intellect  ;

The 4th paagam of Mula / Moolam refers to a very emotional nature.

Every Mula / Moolam paagam comes with different interpretations. Only DETAILED ASTROLOGERS can let you know the difference & the significance.

ARE YOU BORN IN JYESTHA / KETTAI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 18)

JYESTHA / KETTAI , consists of three stars in a row known in modern astronomy as ALPHA-SCORPIONIS, SIGMA-SCORPIONIS & TAU-SCORPIONIS. Alpha-Scorpionis is the brightest among these stars with a visual magnitude of 1.07.

Jyestha / Kettai translates simply into the "Eldest" or "Senior-most" because it is the senior-most among the 18 nakshatras.

Its main symbol is a "Round Talisman".  In all ancient civilizations and legends, one can see a round talisman as a symbol of divine protection or of an authoritarian position.  One can automatically infer that this nakshatra relates to all those in authority positions, like the police.

An "umbrella" is an alternative symbol of this nakshatra. The basic function of an umbrella is to protect one from rain, sun or wind, i.e. nature's forces. In the same way, this nakshatra is supposed to provide protection against the universal forces. This is the reason why all kings and queens in olden days never went out without an umbrella on top of their head. In fact, it is a practice till to-date.

This protection usually comes about through a detailed understanding of the occult knowledge of Universal functions.  That's why politicians and the ruling class of today do take the aid of occult practices in secret to protect their power and position.  Our own Mona Fandey's case reminds us as to what extreme extend do politicians take to protect their power and position.

INDRAN, is the main deity governing deity of this nakshatra.  Around 5,000 years ago, Indran was the most worshiped among all the deities. The Vedas are full of remarks about him. Coincidentally, the Greeks also worship a thunder god known as "THOR",  This thunder god was supposed to wield a thunder bolt in much the same way as Indran, who is always portrayed with a thunder bolt in his hand.

Indran was also regarded as the rain god in most of the ancient cultures. And rain is very important to agriculture, and when rainfall is irregular, it can destroy agriculture. With the invention of new technologies, the dependence of agriculture on rain diminished and so did the worship of Indran.

KRISHNA can be said to be the 1st one who turned the common people away from the worship of Indran. He encouraged them to establish direct communication with forces of nature instead.

One peculiarity of Jyestha / Kettai is that it gives prosperity only though some occult, supernatural or extraordinary means.  This arises from the fact that Indran always gets his position and power through penance and other occult activities. He even got his thunderbolt through the occult propitiation of a sage named Dadhichi.

Its female nakshatra. Jyeshta / Kettai is often portrayed as the eldest and senior-most queen. Even Indran as a character seems to have predominantly feminine attributes and attitudes.  The old, seasoned, jealous, stern stereotyped queen fits Jyeshta /Kettai like a glove.

The neck & right side of the torso are the body parts related to this nakshatra.  It is related primarily to north and south directions.

According to Varahamihira, Moon in Jyeshta / Kettai gives "an angry disposition, few friends, lustfulness, contentment and a sense of responsibility".

The 1st paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to family concerns and interests ;

The 2nd paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to rigidness in regards to responsibility and doing the right things ;

The 3rd paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to society-protector ;

The 4th paagam of Jyeshta / Kettai refers to emotions, indulgence in fantasy & intoxication.

ARE YOU BORN IN ANUSHAM / ANURADHA'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 17)

ANUSHAM / ANURADHA consists of 3 stars known in modern astronomy as BETA-SCORPIONIS, DELTA-SCORPIONIS & PI-SCORPIONIS.  Beta-scorpionis is the brightest among these stars with a visual magnitude of 2.62.

Anusham's main symbol is a "STAFF" (a long stick used as a support, a weapon, or as a symbol of authority). The "staff" has always been seen as a symbol of power and protection.  In the puranas, most of the sages carry a "staff".  In the puranic story of Vishwamitra vs Sage Vashishta, it was noted that all of Vishwamitra's weapons including the Brahmastra (similar to a nuclear missile) were useless against Sage Vashishta's "staff"....wOw!!!

It is interesting to note these sages never used a staff for offensive purposes.  It is only used for self - defense.

A "LOTUS" is another symbol to Anusham.  Since ancient times, the qualities of purity, auspiciousness, knowledge and enlightenment have been associated with the lotus.  In fact, Saraswathi, the goddess of learning, and Laxmi, the goddess of prosperity, are often depicted as sitting atop of a lotus.  A lotus has the ability to grow in muddy waters.  It signifies the attainment of knowledge through the muddiness of one's mental, intellectual & emotion.

MITRA, one the 12 adityas or solar deities that rules Anusham.  Mitra means "friend".  Thus, it comes as no surprise that he is the solar deity to friendship, good faith and cordiality.

If it weren't for Mitra, the world would be a much more dangerous place to live.  Since Anusham is so concerned with learning and accumulation of knowledge, Saraswathi, the goddess of learning, can be said to be strongly connected to this nakshatra.  Saraswathi always sit on a lotus  (a symbol of Anusham) with Veenai (stringed instrument).

The logic oriented approach of this nakshatra accounts for the fact that many Anusham natives are attracted to material sciences like mathematics and physics.  The ability of Anusham to combine logic, intuition and freedom of thought produces deep thinkers in every field.

Numbers are something which takes Anusham's fancy like no other thing.  A lot of Anusham natives have a strong interest in occult or mundane numerology.  I  personally know many Anusham natives as Numerologists!

Anusham / Anuradha is a service orientated nakshatra by virtue of its relationship to its ruling planet, Saturn.

Anusham /Anuradha is related to Sage Angiras, one of the seven celestial sages looking after the affairs of our galaxy.  The name of this Sage translates into "THE FIERY ONE"

Breasts, Stomach, Bowels & the Womb are the body parts related to this nakshatra.  Its a Male and a "Pittam" nakshatra (fiery nakshatra). Its related primarily to North, South & the West Direction.

For those suffering from the bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of the 12 adityas, especially Mitra. The practice of "Raja-yoga", which involves the rising of the kundalini through the seven sacred centres is the other remedial measure.

The 1st paagam of Anusham / Anuradha emphasizes one's inner self understanding & applying that understanding in the outer world through career/business ;

The 2nd paagam of Anusham / Anuradha refers to continuous learning ;

The 3rd paagam of Anusham / Anuradha refers to a highly sociable nature, ranging from arts, music, bohemian to occult ; &

The 4th paagam of Anusham / Anuradha refers to excessive passion and emotion.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of Anusham / Anuradha you belong to?

Party-going / happy-go-lucky type???

Or the highly-sensual type???

According to Varahamihira, Moon in Anusham / Anuradha makes one "wealthy, a traveler, living in foreign countries, and one needs to satisfy their appetite immediately as they find it difficult to bear their hunger".

ARE YOU BORN IN VISHAKAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 16)

VISHAKAM consists of four stars known in modern astronomy as ALPHA-LIBRAE, BETA-LIBRAE, GAMMA-LIBRAE & IOTA-LIBRAE.  Among these, ALPHA-LIBRAE & BETA-LIBRAE are the brightest, with visual magnitudes of 2.75 and 2.61 respectively.

Ancient Vedic seers saw these stars as forming the shape of a forked branch and associated them with the abode of the gods under the rulership of INDRAN.

Its main symbol is a "DECORATED ARCH" or "GATEWAY".  In depictions, this gateway is usually decorated with leaves.  Such gateways are still a norm in marriage ceremonies in Indian weddings.  Consequently, one can infer that Vishakam has a lot to do with marriage.

Vishakam, true with its forked quality, has two main ruling deities:- INDRAN & AGNI (fire god).

In the puranas, INDRAN, the chief among the demi-gods, is often portrayed as a very goal oriented, fixated and offensive character, who would go to any lengths to achieve his desired ends.  The funny thing is that many times his desired ends are completely ungodly and he gets into all sorts of trouble.  This is a primary theme of Vishakam - pursuing unwholesome goals in questionable ways and creating bad karma as a result.  Indran is also seen as a character who drowns himself in women, wine & other enjoyments. This indulgent side of Indran also finds expression through Vishakam.
AGNI, the fire god, basically represents energy in one of its many forms. It is because of Agni that Vishakam has the capacity to exert herculean efforts to attain its goal.  Just like fire, when harnessed properly, can be used in many constructive ways, Vishakam's strong energy can manifest as courage, determination and the capacity for hardwork directed towards wholesome pursuits. Fire in its negative aspect can run amok and burn indiscriminately.  In the same way, Vishakam can cause harm to others around it before finally getting consumed itself.  Terms like "burning grief", "burning desire" and "burning passion" are all tailor-made for Vishakam's expression.

The nature of this nakshatra can be summed in one word - "FIXATION". It is an active nakshatra because of its obssessive approach to things.

It is a female nakshatra.  This classification seems to have its roots in its alternate name "RADHA".  Radha is the childhood consort of KRISHNA who spent the rest of her life pining for him.  It is the longing for the unattainable, which characterizes a Vishakam mindset.

The Arms and the Breasts are the body parts related to this nakshatra.  It is related primarily to West & North Directions.

The best REMEDIAL measure is worship of the 8 VAASUs.  Alternatively one can worship the half-Vishnu, half-Siva form commonly known as HARI-HARA.  The practice of RAJA YOGA, which involves the raising of the KUNDALINI through the seven sacred centres, is one of the best ways to utilize this nakshatra's potential.

In the universal scheme of things, Vishakam relates to "VYAPANA SAKTI" - the power to make, manifest and achieve various things.

Vishakam is related to SAGE VASHISHTA, one of the seven celestial sages looking after the affairs of our galaxy.  The name of this sage translates in the "possessor of wealth".

As Varahamihira says, "Those with Moon in Vishakam are skilled at making money".

The 1st paagam of Vishakam is all about energy, impulse, one-pointedness and social ambitions (the dominant paagam);
The 2nd paagam of Vishakam indicates success in material pursuits (wealth paagam);

The 3rd paagam of Vishakam indicates its one-pointedness through thoughts, communications, philosophical & religious attitudes ; &

The 4th paagam of Vishakam indicates emotional, volatile, revengeful paagam.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of VISHAM you belong to?
Are you the Dominant type???

"No-Money-No-Honey" type???

Thinker-type???

Or the Emotionally Dangerous type???

Every paagam comes with different interpretations.  Only DETAILED ASTROLOGERS can let you know the difference.

According to Varahamihira, those with Moon in Vishakam are "jealous, greedy, clever with words, skilled at making money, quarrelsome and incite quarrels among others".

MOST FAMOUS PERSONALITIES OF VISHAKAM :- NICOLE KIDMAN, is a typical example of Vishakam known for her obssessiveness and secretive personality.

ARE YOU BORN IN SWATI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 15)

SWATI is once again among the few nakshatras which are represented by a single star.  And that star is known as ARCTURUS (ALPHA-BOOTIS).  With a visual magnitude of 0.16, Arcturus is the third brightest among the stars in the night sky.

Ancient Vedic seers saw it as the abode of SARASWATHI, the goddess of learning.

Its symbol is a 'YOUNG PLANT SHOOT BLOWN BY THE WIND". The wind symbolism suggests the airy quality of this nakshatra which promotes restless-ness, adaptability, skill-ness in using the mind and a roaming disposition.  Whereas, the young plant symbolism suggests delicacy.

Its main deity is VAYU, the god of wind.  All of Vayu's qualities, can be seen manifested through HANUMAN, son of Vayu & one of the central characters in the vedic-epic, RAMAYANA.

Hanuman's qualities like extreme strength, morality, strong sense of ethics, moderation, fairness, intelligence and loyalty apply to the highest aspect of Swati's functioning.

It is Hanuman's extreme loyalty and devotion to RAMA, which still remains the strongest example of unconditional and selfless service is strongly entrenced in our minds. It is no wonder then that the planest of service. i.e.SATURN, reaches maximum exaltation in Swati.

It belongs to the Butcher's class. Even wind can be a highly destructive and unforgiving force when it takes the form of cyclones and tornadoes. And Swati can be quite ruthless in its approach, especially when it gains strength and power over the passage of time.

The body part it represents is the Chest, which emphasizes its connection with the air element and the process of breathing.

It is a Female nakshatra & a Deva Ganam.  Swati represents the female aspect of its planetary ruler, Rahu. Its directions are connected with the West, South-West & the South-East.

Worship of Saraswati is the best remedial worship.

In the universal scheme of things, Swati relates to 'PRADHVAMSA SHAKTI" - the power to disperse like the wind. No wonder, it is said also that Swati can be seen as the universal vacuum cleaner!

Swati is related to SAGE MARICHI, one of the seven celestial sages looking after the affairs of our galaxy.  The name of this sage translates into "LIGHT". The "lightness" (as in swiftness) seems to connect well with Swati, considering that Air is light element.

The 1st paagam of Swati says about the restless-ness and the inquisitive-ness aspect of Swati;

The 2nd paagam of Swati indicates good business-sense;

The 3rd paagam of Swati is the most intellectual amongst the four paagams of Swati; &

The 4th paagam of Swati is the most flexible and adaptable paagam and are service orientated and hardworking.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of SWATI you belong to?

Are you the Restless & Inquisitive type???

Good business-sense type???

Intellectual type???

Or the very Hardworking type???

ARE YOU BORN IN CHITRAI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 14)

CHITRAI is one of the few nakshatras which are represented by a single star.  And that star is known as SPICA (ALPHA-VIRGINIS).  It is one of the brightest stars in the night sky with a visual magnitude of 1.06.

Ancient Vedic seers saw this nakshatra as the "RESIDENCE of VISHWAKARMA (or Tvastar), the divine architect.

TVASTAR, the celestial architect, is the main ruling deity of this nakshatra.  He is usually referred as VISHWAKARMA too.  He is said to be adept in MAYA, the illusory force which keeps alive the drama of life.  Vishwakarma, uses his knowledge of Maya to create, mutate and fashion new forms out of the pre-existing ones, an act which seems like magic to others.  His workings are often done in secret and shroud of mystery surrounds him.

To understand his mysterious aspect better, we have to take our present day example, "most of us are completely unaware how normal soil containing silicon is transformed into a computer, a device which has the ability to do all these magic-like functions".

In the same way, most of us do not have the clue as to how Vishwakarma creates magnificent structures using the most basic elements.  That is why none can surpass Chitrai as far as arts, crafts, design, architecture, and beauty are concerned.

Vishwakarma, even though he is friendly to the gods, has no particular allegiance to anyone.  He creates all LOKAS (planes of existence) for all (human, godly, serpent,e.t.c.).  It is Vishwakarma who fashions thunderbolts for INDRA, the king of heavenly hosts.  But his twin brother, TRISHIRAS (three-headed) is a demon and an enemy of Indra.  This duality finds expression through Chitrai, a nakshatra which is very ambiguous and thus hard to classify in any fixed category of good, evil, crooked or saintly.

Therefore, the essence of Chitrai can be summarized in the phrase "CREATE, CREATE, & CREATE".

Chitrai belongs to the Farmer's class.  Even Vishwakarma, the devine architect, is in a way nothing but a "producer", in keeping the wishes of the gods, or whosoever he is working for, at any given point in time.  The ancient vedic seers obviously regarded creating and producing things, especially on a material plane, as a working class activity.

In modern times, sculptures and architects are elevated to lofty positions in society, but in essence, they still remain puppets in the hands of those who finance them.

It is related primarily to the range or arc that goes from South-East, to South, to West.

It is a Female & PITTA (fiery) nakshatra.

FOREHEAD & NECK are the body parts related to this nakshatra.
The 1st paagam of Chitrai indicates strong abilities to keep secrets;

The 2nd paagam of Chitrai indicates a very disciplined paagam which likes to conclude whatever it begins;

The 3rd paagam of Chitrai indicates a very self-centric & the focus on relationships; &

The 4th paagam of Chitrai relates to the magical & mysterious side of Chitrai.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of CHITRAI you belong to?  Every paagam comes with different interpretations.  Only DETAILED ASTROLOGERS can let you know the difference.

Worship of feminine deities who ride on tigers like DURGA is the best way of getting the best of Chitrai.

According to Varahamihira, those with Moon in Chitrai are found wearing bright clothes and garlands, with beautiful eyes and bodies.

MOST FAMOUS PERSONALITIES OF CHITRAI :- ANNA NICOLE SMITH, the famous model who inherited a fortune from her 90 year old billionaire husband, has her Moon placed in Chitrai.  Her huge body is very representative of Chitrai's love of large, well built and proportionate structures.

ARE YOU BORN IN HASTAM'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 13)

HASTAM consists of 5 stars, known in modern astronomy as ALPHA-CORVI, BETA-CORVI, DELTA-CORVI, GAMMA-CORVI & EPSILON-CORVI.  Beta-Corvi is the brightest among these stars with a visual magnitude of 2.66.

Hastam"s main translation is "THE HAND". And it's alternative translation is "LAUGHTER".  The root "HASTAM" in Sanskrit means "TO LAUGH".

Hastam's symbol is "a hand with all the five fingers".  Through this symbol, the ancient seers are trying to emphasize Hastam's relation with FATE.

The deity that is presiding over Hastam is a sloar deity named "SAVITAR".  Savitar has a jovial, light-hearted type of persona.  He is always portrayed with a laughing gesture. This makes Hastam interested in all kinds of sports on all planes of existence.  On the terrestrial earthly plane, Hastam relates to both mind games and physical sports.

Savitar is supposedly to be extremely skilled with his hands.  This makes Hastam directly associated with everything done with the hands.  The reasoning behind the naming of Hastam should now be clear to us.  Savitar is also considered to be a crafty trickster, gambler and fraudster.  In the ancient times, all kings (represented by Sun) were supposed to be well versed in the arts of lying, deceit, fraud, gambling and even robbery!  The book "SUN-THE COSMIC POWERHOUSE @ Sagar Publications" reveals on this aspect of the Sun's nature.

In a way the nature and functioning of Savitar is akin to a bright sunny day where everyone is feeling good and are involved in creative activities of all kinds.  This is what makes Hastam one of the most optimistic and creative nakshatras.

In the universal scheme of things, Hastam relates to "HASTAM STHAPANIYA AGAMA SHAKTI" - the power to put one's object of desire in one's hands. The symbolism makes it clear beyond words that Hastam promises immediate acquirement of one's object of desire through one's skill.

Hastam is a passive nakshatra as this can be understood in terms of its planetary ruler MOON.  It is a Male &"VATA" (airy) nakshatra & belongs to the Vaishya's class because Hastam is associated with production, buying & selling of goods.  It can be said that Hastam has the most business like approach to life in comparison to all other nakshatras.  In the present day and age where business and commerce rules everything else, Hastam has a dominant role.

Hastam relates to the direction east, south, north & northwest.

According to Varahamihira, those with Moon in Hastam makes one 'energetic, daring & merciless".  In a way, it is a street-smart professional.

The 1st paagam of Hastam indicates abundant energy and makes one expert at underhanded activities;
The 2nd paagam of Hastam indicates down-to-earth practicality;

The 3rd paagam of Hastam indicates business-minded & this is the most cleverest amongst the Hastam's paagams; &

The 4th paagam of Hastam indicates the focus on family life and communal co-existence.
For those suffering from the bad effects resulting from afflictions to this nakshatra, the best remedial measure is worship of the SUN as a creative force, at sunrise.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of HASTAM you belong to.......e.g. 3RD PAAGAM???
Every paagam comes with different interpretations.  Only DETAILED ASTROLOGERS can let you know the difference.

MOST FAMOUS PERSONALITIES OF HASTAM :-  SWAMI VIVEKANANDA, the famous Indian Saint, who made waves in the West by introducing the VEDANTA PHILOSOPHY, has his Moon sign in Hastam.  He was crafty in his speech combined with wit, humour and sarcasm to enthrall audiences across America & Europe.  Back in India, he preached a very "HASTAM-DOCTRINE OF WORKING HARD ON A MATERIAL LEVEL".

ONE MORE 7AAM ARIVU - SIDDHAR BOGHAR & TAOISM

SIDDHAR BOGHAR, one among the 18 Tamil Siddhars, received his initiations from the illustrious Natha Yogi, Kalangi.

Contemplative insight allegedly guided Bogar to construct a primitive form of aircraft that he used in a journey to CHINA. He is also credited with inventing a sea-going craft using a stream engine, preparing an indestructible STATUE of the god, MURUGA, using nine poisonous herbs and minerals and making a major contribution to the siddhar medicine system which boasts possession of fabulous remedies that heal presently incurable diseases and make possible an extreme longevity. This are clearly documented in Boghar's SAPTAKANDA.

A popular legend describes how Boghar made several missionary excursions into China. A master of astral projection and soul transmigration, Boghar ENTERED the body of a recently deceased Chinese youth, REVIVED it and grew to become the Chinese sage, LAO TZU, author of the TAO TE CHING and founder of TAOISM.

Taoism has a rich alchemical faction devoted to physical longevity that lends credit to this bizarre tale. The TAO TE CHING embodies the same esoteric style that haunts the obscure language of the Tamil siddhars.  Any student of Taoist Yoga is shocked by the similarity of its techniques to those of the Tamil siddhars.

Initially, it could not be accepted of the possibility that BOGHAR WAS INDEED LAO TZU.  Finally, a pilgrimage guide book written in English, described Palani's Hill temple to Lord Muruga and contained a brief monograph on Boghar identifying him as the Chinese sage, Lao Tzu.

Boghar's monumental work of 7000 verses has recently been edited in Tamil by one of the great living apostles of this tradition, Yogi S.A. Ramaiah of Madras.
