ARE YOU BORN IN ROHINI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 4)

ROHINI is known in modern astronomy as ALPHA-TAURI (ALDEBARAN).  And Aldebaran  is one of the brightest stars in the night sky.  In fact, this unique rose star can even be spotted in the evening sky.  The ancient vedic seers revered this star as the abode of BRAHMA and PRAJAPATIS.

ROHINI can be roughly translated into 'THE REDDISH ONE" or 'THE GROWING ONE".  The colour "Red" evokes notions of warmth, passion and liveliness.  It was seen as the colour of ABUNDANCE AND PROSPERITY.

ROHINI's main symbol is an Ox-Cart pulled by Two Oxen.

BRAHMA, the creator among the governing Trinity of the Universe, is the main presiding DEITY of this nakshatra. Rohini's extraordinary charm and magnetism is made clear by the fact that MOON, whose duty is to spend only a certain amount of time with each of the 27 Nakshatras (wives of the Moon), REFUSED TO LEAVE ROHINI'S ABODE. (Please refer to my earlier article, in my blog-archives, on MOON WAXES AND WANES BECAUSE OF HIS FATHER-IN-LAW'S CURSES).  Rohini makes people and even Gods chase after it in every way possible!...wOw!

ROHINI natives usually have large, clear and expressive eyes, refined features and a smiling countenance.  They are popular within their social circle because of their charisma.  Rohini is a true patron of the Arts.  Most persons born under the Rohini's nakshatra are usually very careful about their health and known to live up to a ripe old age. Common English words like "robust", "romantic", "romeo", "rosy", "rose" seem to have the same root as the word "Rohini".

Rohini is considered to be a BALANCED nakshatra.  Those who are involved in any productive activity will understand the importance of "balance" in achieving desired results.  Just as nature is creative and productive through the BALANCE of HEAT  & COLD, LIGHT & DARK, RAIN & SHINE, WINTER & SUMMER, etc., Rohini is methodical and balanced in its actions.

According to Varahamihira, those born with Moon in Rohini are "HONEST, PURE, BEAUTIFUL, STEADY MIND & PLEASANT SPEECH".

It is the 4th nakshatra and the number 4 represent the mothering principle in nature.  And Rohini is the nakshatra most related to the Earth.

THE FOREHEAD, ANKLES, SHINS & CALVES OF THE LEGS are the body parts related to this nakshatra.

It is a KAPHA (watery) nakshatra.

It is related primarily to SOUTH, SOUTH EAST & NORTH WEST.

The 1st paagam of Rohini indicates strong passions & extravagance.

The 2nd paagam of Rohini indicates materialism, actualisation and fulfilment of desires.

The 3rd paagam of Rohini indicates materialism, arts, sciences and business.

The 4th paagam of Rohini indicates home and material security.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of ROHINI you belong to?  Every paagam comes with different interpretations.  Only detailed Astrologers can let you know the difference.

MOST FAMOUS personalities of ROHINI :-  K R I S H N A, (Vishnu's 8th incarnation)  &  Q U E E N  V I C T O R I A.

ARE YOU BORN IN KARTIKAI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 3)

KARTIKAI can be roughly translated into "THE ONE WHO CUTS / THE CUTTERS". Therefore its main symbol is an AXE, RAZOR, BLADE OR KNIFE. A FLAME of any type is another widely used symbol for Kartikai. PEACOCK too is another alternative symbol of this natshatra.

KARTTIKEYA, the commander of the celestial godly forces, is the primary ruling DEITY of the natshatra. He is one of the most prominent among SHIVA's sons. He was born for destroying the demons and restoring the heavens to the gods.

ONE POINTED ACTION & FIERY BURSTS OF ENERGY sums up Kartikai's nature and functioning. Kartikai exemplifies SUN's anger rather than MAR's anger. Sun's anger doesn't last for very long, while Mar's anger lingers on. They have an extreme temper, but it does not last for more than a few minutes.

Kartikai borns have a direct and straightforward approach and don't like to beat around the bush. At the same time, they are good at putting up social graces and do not act in a sharp manner all the time. They do so only when aroused.
Otherwise, they like to support others around them through their warmth, independence and will-power.

ARE YOU BORN IN BHARANI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 2)

BHARANI can be roughly translated into "SHE WHO BEARS".  The name relates primarily to the feminine side of nature and its capacity to RECEIVE, HOLD,  NURTURE AND DESTROY. Bharani therefore carries all the above attributes.

YAMA, the lord of death, is considered the main presiding DEITY of this  natshatra.  In the vedic texts, he is mostly seen as the Lord of DHARMA.  When seen in the light of the fact, it is YAMA's duty to assign the life paths for the souls who have their earthly bodies, it becomes clear that he has to be well versed in the laws of KARMA and DHARMA.

EXTREME is the one word which sums up Barani's essential nature and functioning. Bharani natives are often strong characters who can understand the many turbulences which life has to offer.  They do get down and moan and cry like infants sometimes, but nothing holds them down for too long.

They are often seen to undergo huge transformations and radical changes throughout their lives. And all Baharni natives have a CREATIVE urge inside them. With their strong sense of ADVENTURE, it is seen that they can only achieve their goals if they are under constant GUIDANCE from a more mature and wiser source.

THE HEAD and BOTTOM PARTS OF THE FEET are the body parts related to this natshatra.

It is a PITTA (fiery) natshatra.

The 1st paagam of Bharani is ruled by SUN.  It indicates self-centric, drive and will-power.

The 2nd paagam of Bharani is ruled by MERCURY. It indicates service and hardwork.

The 3rd paagam of Bharani is ruled by VENUS.  It indicates creativity and enjoyments.

The 4th paagam of Bharani is ruled by MARS.  It indicates energy.

ARE YOU BORN IN ASHVINI'S NAKSHATRA? (Star 1)

ASHVINI, is also known as the "HORSE-WOMAN" due to it's mythical creature with a horse's head and a woman's body. Therefore it's symbol is a "horse-head".  A horse's head conveys the idea of "A BEGINNING". That's why it is the 1st Nakshatra.

The Ashvini Kumaras, the two celestial horsemen, are regarded as the main presiding DEITIES of this nakshatra.  In vedic legend they are the twin brothers, who were born out of the union of SUN and his wife SANJANA, when they were in the form of a stallion and a mare. (Please refer to my earlier write ups)  These two brothers are seen as the celestial PHYSICIANS in ancient vedic texts.  And this is where the HEALING and REJUVENATING aspect of this nakshatra stems from.

SPONTANEOUS is the word which sums up this nakshatra's nature and functioning.  Quickness like agility and speediness form the core of Ashvini's functioning. Also known for their straightforward and no-nonsense approaches. The phrase "HURRY CAUSES DELAY, and HASTE MAKES WASTE", seem to be aimed directly at Ashvini born persons.

KNEES and top portion of the FEET are the main body parts ruled by this nakshatra. Its association with knees is evident from its association with movement.  Knees are the body parts which provides us our capacity for walking, running and jumping.  Horses can run fast because they have strong knees. The feet again are related to our ability to move.

It is VATA (airy) nakshatra.  Vata carries a very MOVEABLE ENERGY in tune with this nakshatra's basic nature.

The 1st paagam (quarter) of this asterism 0 degrees to 3.20 degrees is ruled by MARS. It indicates courageous & most pioneering.

The 2nd paagam, i.e. 3.20-6.40 degrees is ruled by VENUS. It indicates graceful & resourceful.

The 3rd paagam, i.e.6.40-10 degrees is ruled by MERCURY. It indicates humour & communicative.

The 4th paagam, i.e. 10-13.20 degrees is ruled by MOON. It indicates the healing part of Ashvini.

DO YOU KNOW which paagam of Ashvini you belong to? Every paagam comes
with different interpretation. Only detailed astrologers can let you know the difference.

Most Famous personality of Ashvini : BRUCE LEE, was born with Ashvini rising on his Ascendant.

THE PERFECT JUSTICE BROTHERS-LORD YAMA AND LORD SANI & VEDIC ASTROLOGY

16/2/2011

Both Lord Surya's sons Yama and Sani rules our lives, whether we are alive or dead. Yama takes over the death and Sani rules the living one.

YAMA is assisted by CHITRAGUPTA who is assigned with the tasks of keeping every records of human beings on the earth, and upon death, deciding to have REINCARNATED as a SUPERIOR or INFERIOR organism, depending on their actions while alive on earth (KARMA).

Yama, is known as the Lord of Justice and is referred to as DHARMA.

Sani gives the results of one's deeds, while alive, through appropriate punishments and rewards.  And Yama grants the results of one's deeds, but, only after dead!

Yama is the Guardian of the Direction and represents SOUTH.  It is said that he is the wisest of the devas.

AGNI, who is the conductor of the dead, has close relationship with Yama.  In other words, Agni is Yama's priest serving as the burner of the dead.

SANI rules the MASSES. Without the planet's blessings, a mass following is difficult to come by.  EXALTED SANI or strongest Sani awards one with such a leadership position entailing fame and recognition among the masses.  A lot of politicians or crowd-pullers have strong Sani in their horoscopes.

A DEBILITATED SANI or weakest Sani, on the other hand, makes one weak. It is said to have poor comitment and perservarance towards duties and suffers in the process of completing one's karmic obligation.

SANI is known as NEEDHIMAN (JUDGE).  He only troubles the person during his/her DASHA for the wrong doings.  Even in SANI DASHA, if a person is RIGHTEOUS & DEVOTED, he/she would be sure to come out of this period without any ill-effects.

According to VEDIC ASTROLOGY, Sani is considered to be the STRONGEST DISCIPLINARY TEACHER.

A favourably placed SANI in one's astrological chart, indicates a STRONG CAREER too. Sani rules MAKARAM & KUMBHAM.  It exalts in THULAM & it debilitates in MESHAM.

MERCURY, VENUS, RAHU & KETU are considered FRIENDLY towards Sani, while SUN, MOON AND MARS are ENEMIES. JUPITER maintains NEUTRAL.

Sani rules 3 NAKSHATRAS, i.e. POOSAM, ANUSHAM & UTHIRATHAATHI.

Lord Sani is known more for his blessings than his ill-effects. No other planet is comparable with Lord Sani. He showers his blessings at the end of his Dasha. Have you heard of the saying that says, "The end of one's depression is JOY!" That is exactly how Sani operates.  It gives you the joy at the end after testing your patience "cukup-cukup".  He corrects our immoral acts by creating frustrations and delays.  In the end, he makes one conscious enough to understand his/her mistakes!

Sani matures our SOULS, makes us understand the TRUTH of life, and finally we become a WISER person.  Ask any persons who have come out from their ASTHAMA SANI or 7 HALF YEARS SANI periods.  They would be transformed FROM the futility of their actions done out of ignorance in the past TO wiser persons at present.

Sani's influence is NOT ARBITRARY; rather it is the RESULTS OF ONE'S OWN KARMA!

ARTHA-ASTHAMA SANI - THE STORY OF NALLA DAMAYANTHI

9/2/2011

When SANI transits (Sani Payartchi) to it's 4th House from one's MOON sign, this period is known as "ARTHA-ASTHAMA SANI".  It can make one to leave away from his/her place of stay. Are you going through this Artha-Asthama Sani period?

Many great Kings have lived in exile during this period.  LORD RAMA went to the forest in his Artha-Asthama Sani period. This story is about KING NALLA's experience in his Artha-Asthama Sani period.

It is said that King Nalla lost his entire kingdom in a game of DICE to his brother, and left to the forest along with his beautiful wife, DAMAYANTHI.

With so much of humiliation, he decided to desert his wife in the forest.  Nalla ran away from the forest.  He saw a snake in the pit and tried to rescue it.  Unfortunately, he got bitten by the snake he tried to help.  The poison of the snake turned Nalla into a dwarf and an ugly man.  A handsome prince transformed into an ugly dwarf.......poor Nalla......kena KAW-KAW!!

The snake, then, guided him to KING RITUPARNA of AYODHYA. (For your information, King Nalla was an expert COOK & an expert HORSE-RACER too).  King Rituparna decided to keep Nalla, the ugly dwarf, as his personal cook and personal charioteer.

Meanwhile, Damayanthi's father who is also the KING of VIDHARBHA managed to rescue his beloved daughter and took her back to Vidharbha.

It is also at this time, the whole town of Vidharbha knew of that amazing cook in Ayodhya who could cook amazingly well. King Rituparna was lucky enough to have such a great cook, right?

Damayanthi suspected that cook could be her husband, but then, she need to see him to confirm.  How, then?

She decided to have a second SWAYAMVARAM CEREMONY.  (Swayamvaram is a custom wherein the princess could choose her husband.)

She send out an invitation to all the eligible bachelor kings.  The catch is - the invitation gives only ONE DAY NOTICE to attend the ceremony.  Even the nearest kingdom, Ayodhya is 1,000 km from Vidharbha.

She knew very well, there could only be one person doing such a marathon feat, that is her husband, Nalla.

King Rituparna wanted to participate the Swayamvaram ceremony too.  He could only rely on Nalla, the dwarf.  Upon hearing from King Rituparna, Nalla felt very jealous about his wife organising the Swayamvaram.  He too wanted to check it out, and so they succeeded travelling to Vidharbha in such a thundering speed.......wOw!

When both of them reached Vidharbha, surprisingly, there were no festivities at sight.  Somehow, Damayanthi could recognise the dwarf Nalla as her husband.  Suddenly, to his surprise, she asked him WHY he had deserted her.

Nalla had got no choice but to reveal everything to her......his Artha-Asthama Sani experiences, snake-bites, his dwarf looks, etc.

On the advise of LORD NAARADA, he undertake a pilgrimage and finally reached THIRUNALLAR.  As soon as he bathed in the temple tank, he was RELEASED FROM THE CLUTCHES OF ARTHA-ASTHAMA SANI.  With this, the SNAKE POISON comes out from Nalla's body, and Nalla became the handsome looking prince again and regaining his kigdom too.

King Nalla requested SANI to rule as ANUGRAHAMURTHY and Sani obligingly stayed back at the temple, PROMISING NOT TO TOUCH ANYONE WHO MENTIONS THE WORD "NALLA-DAMAYANTHI".  That is why there is a sanctum for LORD SANI at the THIRUNALLAR TEMPLE.

It is also believed that whoever does through his/her "7 & HALF YEARS SANI", it would be a good idea to go to the Sani temple in THIRUNALLAR.

ARTHA-ASTHAMA SANI, ASTHAMA SANI & 7 & HALF YEARS SANI, can bring anyone to the GROUND; be it a KING or a COMMON-MAN!

LORD SHIVA IS THE GURU-JI OF LORD SANI

01/02/2011

One morning Lord Sani visited Lord Shiva and told him that it is Lord Shiva's turn to go through the 7 AND HALF YEARS of SANI's GAZE.  Being his guru-ji, Lord Shiva felt he should not be subjected to the full period of the 7 and half years of Sani's gaze.  Instead, he bargained with Lord Sani and finally the both came to an agreement that Lord Shiva should only undergo 3 hours and 45 minutes of Sani's gaze. A very good bargain indeed.

Lord Shiva thought Lord Sani would not be able to accomplish anything within the short period of 3 hours and 45 minutes. "What can Sani do in such a short period of time?" he smiled to himself.  To deny Sani's role, Lord Shiva decided to bath in the River Ganges by thinking that 3 hours and 45 minutes will just pass if he spend that time in the river.  And then, he would be freed from Sani's gaze.

As Lord Shiva was walking happily to the River Ganges to take his long bath, suddenly a WATER-MELON SELLER who had been following Lord Shiva appeared in front of him and gave him two juicy water-melons. And the watter-melon seller happens to be Lord Sani, who has actually took the form of that water-melon seller. When the water-melon seller a.k.a. Lord Sani's shadows fell upon Lord Shiva, his mind changed.

What happened then? Lord Shiva put both the melons in the bag and proceeded to the river.

In the meantime, there was another development taking place.  On the previous day, the King's two princes who went for hunting were missing.  The King was worried for the safety of both the princes and he had sent his soldiers out to search for the princes.  It was at this point in time, they stumbled upon Lord Shiva carrying his bag heading to the river.  They asked, "What is in the bag?".  Lord Shiva quipped, "Oh..two water-melons".  By this time, there were blood dripping out from the bag.  Shockingly, when told to open the bag, they found the two HEADS of the King's princes!

By the gaze of Lord Sani, the water-melons have changed into the heads of the princes....wOw!

The soldiers, then, took Lord Shiva to the King, who was so furious that he ordered an instant hanging.  By this time, Lord Shiva already knew "this play" must have been BRILLIANTLY designed by Lord Sani.  He pleaded with the soldiers to wait for a few minutes knowing very well that Sani's gaze would be over by then.

As soon as Sani's gaze was over, the King's two princes entered the palace.  Seeing this, the order to hang was immediately cancelled.  The King felt very bad and asked for forgiveness from Lord Shiva for putting him in such an ordeal.

After all these, Lord Sani again reached to Lord Shiva and asked him, "What was the experience of my gaze, guru-ji?"

The ever-forgiving Lord Shiva replied, "YOU ARE GREAT."

In Vedic Astrology, when one goes through the 7 and half years of Sani's gaze, ONE NEED TO KNOW, through the competence of their respective astrologers, WHEN would one be going through the SANI BUKHTI or SANI SUB-BUKHTI? And WHAT would also be the IMPLICATIONS of your own sani bukhti or sub-bukhti?  These would precisely give a CLUE as to when the Sani's gaze will fall upon him/her and it's MEANING.

He/she would be in a better position to handle that period compared to a person who has been caught unaware by surprise, right? Isn't this a privilege information?  Go and get your PRIVILEGE INFORMATION from your vedic astrologers.

GANESH LOOSES HIS HEAD BECAUSE OF SANI'S LOOK

26/1/2011

Goddess Parvathi, the consort of Lord Shiva created a child from her mind.  That was how Ganesha was born.

They decided to have a ANNAPRASHAM CEREMONY. All the gods and demigods were invited to witness the child receiving his first solid food in the Annaprasham ceremony.  They were all happy to attend the function, EXCEPT Lord Sani.

Remembering his wife's curse at him that says "since you did not bother to look at me, I curse you that whomsoever you look will perish", Lord Sani was too scared to turn up.  Goddess Parvathi noticed his absence in the ceremony and sent her emissaries (mah-chais) to fetch him.  Being the son of Lord Sun, Lord Sani just cannot refuse to attend.....have to "give face" lah!

Lord Sani, reluctantly went to the ceremony.  In his mind, he decided not to look at the child and only join the festivities and bless the child with his eyes closed....nothing more-nothing less.

Goddess Parvathi, from far aways, observed Lord Sani distancing himself, and to his worst nightmare, she suddenly appeared and stood in front of him with baby Ganesh and asked Lord Sani for his comments on baby Ganesh looks'.

Avoiding looking at the baby, Lord Sani told her that he did not want to see the child fearing the worst might happen to him.  Goddess Parvathi refused to accept his reasoning.  She even gave him the assurance that she herself would be responsible for whatever consequences.

What would Lord Sani do, then?

With one eye opened and the other eye closed, Lord Sani looked at baby Ganesh, and as he did slowly, the worst fear finally became a reality, with baby Ganesh's head dropping off his shoulder......wOw!

What happened?  Goddess Parvathi was hysterical...there were general confusion....and everyone started crying.  Only Lord Vishnu kept himself cool and the same time he also knew the extent of Goddess Parvathi's anger!

Lord Vishnu took one of Lord Shiva's attendants and asked him to go out and find the FIRST living being lying with its HEAD towards the NORTH.
He was to cut the head off and bring it as fast as possible to Lord Vishnu.

The attendant found an elephant lying down with its head northwards.  He brought the head to Vishnu and he set-it on baby Ganesh headless body.  With that, baby Ganesh became whole again.  Since then, he became to be known as the ELEPHANT GOD. (There are also many other versions of this story)

Such were the powers of Saturn.  It became more potent by his wife's curse.

In Vedic Astrology, it is said that the HOUSES which receive the SATURN'S ASPECT (Sani paarvai), i.e. the 3rd, 7th & the 10th House from one's Saturn placement, would somehow RUIN THE CHARACTER OF THAT HOUSE, of course, with some exceptions.

As such, Saturn's Aspects have always been treated with "the greatest care & concern" by all vedic astrologers.

Many people are capable of giving the powerful "Saturn-look." That's why so many "poosinikkahs" are seen in so many houses.

WHY LORD SANI REMAINED A BRAHMACHARI ALTHOUGH MARRIED?

19/1/2011

As written earlier, out of deep anger against his father (Lord Sun), Sani started doing penance.  His objective was to become more powerful than Lord Sun.

During penance, one has to remain celibate and have to control his emotions and also to subject the body to extreme sufferings, like the sadhus or the rishis do.  Lord Sani went through this process of penance for years and finally succeeded.  While Lord Sun gave life to all beings, Lord Sani became the DEALER OF DEATH.  He had the additional power of bestowing instant WEALTH & PROSPERITY and also THE POWER OF HEALING (by denying death).  So, Lord Sani can be a foe (enemy) or a friend too if you know the "right button" to get connected, i.e. through mantras & tantras.

What happened then?  Even after achieving his goal, he continued to be celibate and led a life of a hermit!

CHHAYA, his mother was alarmed and like any good mother forced Lord Sani to marry a girl of her choice believing the beauty of the bride would change her son's attitude.  Unfortunately, no such thing happened, and Lord Sani continued with his daily meditation after going through the marriage rituals with extreme reluctance, only to please his mother.  Probably he did not understand the responsibilities of marriage.  As mentioned earlier, Sani matures only when he reaches 36 years of age.  That is the reason when one has got his/her Saturn in his/her 7th House (the house of marriage), we astrologers, would suggest that late marriage would be a better idea, of course, subjected to other conditions too.

His wife tried her best to win him over, but Lord Sani did not even look at her.  One day she had enough of it and CURSED Lord Sani by saying "Since you did not even bother to look at me, I curse you that whomsoever you look will perish"........takut!

That is why "SANI PAARVAI POLLAATHATHU"...like a movie title aaah!

WHY THE FATHER AND THE SON ALWAYS "TAK NGAAM"? A STORY OF LORD SUN & LORD SATURN.

4/1/2011

The story goes like this.  Lord SUN's wife is SANJANA. Originally they had two sons and a daughter, named VAIVASWAT MANU & later the twins named YAMA, a boy & YAMI, a girl.  Then came a day, Sanjana couldn't take the searing heat of the Sun. "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!" she said, after leaving him.

Before she left her husband, she replaced/cloned herself with CHHAYA who looked exactly like her, and she became the cool shadow of Sanjana. Of course, Chhaya was able to withstand Sun's fiery ardour (passion) without getting nervous or blistered....wOw!

The union of Lord Sun & Chhaya resulted in the birth of another two sons & a daughter by the names, SATURN, SABARI MANU & daughter, TAPATI.

YAMA, suspected that Chhaya couldn't be his real mother because of the preferential treatment (pilih kasih) of her's compared to that of Sanjana's children.  He complained to his father, Lord Sun.

What happened then?  Seeing Sun getting angry, Chhaya spilled out the beans, finally admitting she's the clone of Sanjana....poor Chhaya..... She got chased-off.

Lord Sun, then, searched for Sanjana with his father-in-law, Lord VISHWAKARMA. And Lord Vishwakarma is also known as the Chief Engineer of the Gods.

Lord Sun went into deep meditation and finally realised that Sanjana was roaming in the meadows (fields) in the form of a mare (a female horse).  Wanting to take her back, Lord Sun took the form of a horse; managed to found her and they were united.  From the union, were born the twins, called the ASHWINS, who later became the Medicine Men & Surgeon of the Gods.

Sanjana complained to Lord Sun about her problem with the searing heat that she couldn't bear. Lord Sun agreed and they went to her father, Lord Vishwakarma, the chief engineer of the gods, and asked for a solution.

The Engineer God, Lord Vishwakarma, came out with an ENGINEERING SOLUTION......he took out a circular saw and shaved-off parts of his son-in-law, i.e. Lord Sun, thus, reducing some of his heat!

The pieces, which flew off the main body of LORD SUN, became the planets.....AMAZING!!!

Lord Saturn, being his child, had already found his place as a planet but was thrown at the farthest planet from the Sun. Being thrown at the furthest from Lord Sun & the fact that his mother being chased-off earlier, Lord Saturn was very angry and later, became the SWORN ENEMY of Lord Sun.

In Vedic Astrology, there are friendships and enemies between the planets, the bitterest enemy is between the FATHER & THE SON, i.e. LORD SUN & LORD SATURN.

It is also said in Vedic Astrology that Saturn MATURES at 36 years of age.  That is why, when someone has got his Saturn placed in the angular houses i.e. the 1st, 4th, 7th & 10th Houses, or known as the KENDRA Houses in his astrological NATAL CHART, his quality of life would only be BETTER after he reached 36 years onwards.  In other words, it can also mean that the son, being matured, can understand his father better after reaching 36 years....some say after 40 years too.
